Is Brook Timber waterproof?
Yes. Brook Timber is a 100% waterproof engineered hardwood suitable for moisture‑prone areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.
Can I install this over tile or concrete? Do I need an underlayment?
Yes—our click-lock floating floor installs over most properly prepared subfloors, including well-bonded tile, concrete slabs, hardwood, and linoleum. Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and flat within manufacturer tolerances.
Concrete: Because concrete can transmit moisture, lay a continuous 6-mil polyethylene (poly) vapor barrier with taped seams before installing to help prevent moisture issues and mold.
Wood subfloors (OSB/plywood): A separate vapor barrier isn’t needed—just confirm the subfloor is dry, sound, and level.
Underlayment: The planks include a pre-attached 1mm IXPE foam pad, so no additional cushion is required.
Avoid installing over soft or loose flooring (like carpet), and correct any high/low spots before you begin for best results.
